It’s all about Readership

It’s pretty simple, really. Black Hills Faces Magazine is designed to be read. Full of real stories about real people, Faces Magazine allows you a glimpse into the lives of the locals. Scan through to pick out the photos of folks you know. Along the way, you’ll probably find a few photos of folks you don’t know. But reading about them instantly transforms them from strangers to friends—because they’re right here in the Hills, and chances are you’ll run across them again someday. They may not be movie stars or even remotely famous, but we think that makes them even more appealing—the things they’ve done, the stories they tell, the people who have shaped their lives. Black Hills Faces Magazine was created to celebrate the unique personalities of the people who live in this area. They are your friends, families, neighbors, and co-workers. They are the faces of Black Hills Faces Magazine.

WHAT THE HECK IS AN AD LIB?

When it comes to promoting your business, we don’t stop with your ad!  Our Ad Libs are “blurbs that promote the Faces of our advertisers in fun and interesting ways.”  A good way to think of an Ad Lib is advertising your business “outside of the box.”  Businesses have really jumped on these Ad Libs.  We like to think of Ad Libs as mini FACES stories that tell readers about the people who run buinesses in the Black Hills. Ad Libs turn advertisers into human interest stories.

The Faces Behind Faces
Faces was founded by sisters Beth Palmer and Ann Henrichsen, who together comprise the company Swish Publishing.

Managing Editor Beth Palmer has a master’s degree in English and over twenty years of experience as a freelance writer, editor and advertising copywriter. She spent several years in the public relations field and served as editor of a newsletter and quarterly magazine.

Director of Advertising Ann Henrichsen has a bachelor’s degree in Biology with over ten years of combined sales experience in the direct, retail and pharmaceutical sales industries. Because Beth likes to write about people and Ann likes to talk to people, together they provide the fundamental elements of a successful magazine.
